Very informative and well researched piece. The only fault is historical fact checking regarding general submarine operation. I gave it five stars because I am greatly interested in the subject. The casual reader would probably not be as enthused.

I enjoyed the level of detail and some photographs that I haven't seen in other books on submarines. Especially the different calculation aids used prior to the introduction of the analog computer.

This is a superb, concise history of American submarine torpedo tactics beginning with WW1 and what we know as a submarine torpedo as well as a chapter on the basic invention of the torpOk, a chapter might have been included to discuss the tactics of Bushnell's "Turtle" as well as Civil War "torpedos". Small quibble as this well-written book details how tactics using these were developed over two wars into the present age. Big congrats to McFarland for this highly recommended book.
