Once applied to the glass, the wet paint is patterned and manipulated using a variety of color shapers. Twelve glass projects include bowls, candy dishes, decanters, and platters. The author is director of the Decorative Painting Certificate Program at the Rhode Island School of Design, and she teaches courses at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her work is recommended for large arts and crafts collections, but for smaller collections, Gear and Freestone!s The Complete Guide to Glass Painting offers a more comprehensive approach. They cover a wide variety of paints and tools, including the use of moulds, etching, gold leafing, and embedding. This book was clear enough to make up my mind about painting on glass--I won't do it. I might well do mosaics or even stained glass, but I will never paint on glass.

I have bought several books about glass painting but none of them have explained exactly what type of paints that I can buy locally to use. This one not only explains about the "glass paints" but it tells you everything about ALL paints and how you can use them in this technique, or I should say many techniques. When a book arrives, I flip through the pages then put it away for later when I have time to really go through it. I opened up this book and I read it from cover to cover right then. Not only does it explain everything there is to know about glass painting, it even went into stain glass techniques that you can incorporate into the glass painting. I can't tell you all the different mediums that this book explains. If you can only buy one book about glass painting and want to learn this technique, this book would be the only one that you will need.

This is a great book that covers all of the basics about using non kiln fired glass paints. A must read book for the hobbiest and a good place to start fot those serious about adding color to their clear glass art.
