This is an excellent in depth travel guide for Moscow and St. Petersburg. It's too big for your pocket, but the fact that it has both cities which almost everyone who goes there visits is a big help when packing for a trip. We were on a river cruise for the rest of our time in Russia and only on our own in Moscow and St. Petersburg and so this was perfect for us. It has a lot of detailed information about all the sites and restaurants, nightlife and hotels. More than everything you need for a visit.

This book is not worth the money. We spend part of one afternoon in St. Petersburg trying to decipher the maps. Alas, to no avail. Even the Café Zinger was misplaced on the map, egregiously so. Many fine small boutique hotels are overlooked in favor of sterile business establishments. The addresses are unreliable. For example, when we asked the hotel where we stayed (recommended in this guidebook) for help in getting a cab to take us to a specific location, we found the address was incorrect. Good restaurants, like The Biblioteca on Nevski Prospect (where we ate dinner twice during our stay) aren't even listed. We'd recommend that you wait for the 2014 version of this guidebook

I like this book although I prefer the eyewitness guides for my upcoming trips. This has quite a bit of information on the 2 cities I am going to in April.

Pro: Lots of good stuff inside: neighborhood walks, budget restaurants, best sites to visit, opening hours and prices, recent copyright.Con: Some of the maps are a bit off, and only one Metro name given when station is actually a multi-line interchange.

Good condition, but with library tape and stamp. Should have stated on ad. Still worth the money. No complain. Shipping slow.

Well written, informative, good maps. Liked the bit about the sauna baths. I didn't know about those. Would have liked more pictures.I would recommend this to anybody going there.

excellent hints for packing, for safety in Russia, to avoid water and uncooked fruits and vegetables, good history, good maps
